I don't "geek-out" about a whole lot of stuff...but I'm a Tron fanatic. (Tron the movie...not the toys and games and all that.) I recently learned that Disney is actually moving forward with the Tron sequel they teased me with in the 2002 20th anniversary edition DVD of the original movie Tron. Check out the teaser trailer [link] . Although the SFX look slick and cutting-edge, they've managed to preserve the smooth, synthetic look of the "computer world" from the original Tron.

If you don't know Tron, it's the first movie to ever use CGI as an actual part of the story. It contains over 1100 CGI effects. It bombed in the theaters because it was a movie about computers and video games. In 1982, very few people had computers, and video games were for children. Not a lot of people could relate.

I think moviegoers ignored the symbolic nature of the "real world" versus "computer world" plot. Watch it and think about the relationship between God and man. Think about a socialist totalitarian government and the subjects that they oppress.

Oh, also think about how much of Tron was ripped of by the Matrix. Neo was nothing more than a Johnny-come-lately version of Flynn.
